After loosing the presidential run off, Nepal Communist Party-Maoist (CPN-M) the largest party of the Constitution Assembly (CA) declared that they will not join the new government. Though they didn’t have the significant majority in the CA election, but they won majority than other parties. Being a largest party they are the first choice of Nepalese people and hence the prioritized party to lead the government.

Immediately after the result of CA election, they were ready to take lead in forming the government. However, due to the recent political development, Maoist have decided that they will not be lead or even join in the process of the formation of the new government. Since, the establishment of democracy on 1990 mostly the government were led by Nepali Congress or Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist Leninist). The CPN-UML or NC governments always failed to meet the people aspiration and the general people want to feel change and see some new leaders. Though before coming into the mainstream politics Maoist didn’t choose the right way to put forward their thoughts, people accepted them, with the hopes of changes. Disappointingly, it seems Maoists are also not the exceptional as they are also behind the power and position game like other parties despite of trust shown by general people.

Nepal is already far behind in the development than other developing countries because of the civil war which lasted for around 12 years. After the integration of Maoist into mainstream politics with taking part in the peace talks with Seven Parties Alliance (SPA), in the year 2006, the country progressed making histories towards peace process. This whole process was highly appreciated by rest of the world. Since then SPA and Maoist built the consensus and worked together till CA election. Now after the major milestone i.e the declaration of Republic nation and election of first ever President, it seems that the consensus and the partnership between the SPA is towards the end, which is off course not desired many people.

Nepalese people want to see the prosperous and developed Nepal with culture of partnership and consensus between the parties. They want the consensus between the parties at least till the finalization of New Constitution, which might take two more years (or more). But the newly developed political situation reflects that political parties are not serious in making new constitution or they have any vision to develop the nation. They were/are only into the dirty game of politics, fighting on the position and power.

Despite of all this, in the current political context, expectation of the people is different as they think that SPA should now fully support the Maoist in forming the new government and Maoist should also be ready to lead the government because it is the mandate from people. Now, it time that we should Let People Lead. This will in fact save our time and resources so that we might be able to come up with the new constitution in two years without any political deadlocks in between.
